The conditions of employment such as hourly rate, penalties, tax, and superannuation rates, need only be entered once, or downloaded via the internet. The award interpreter then calculates the leave and payment requirements from the actual times worked, as entered from time sheets or from a link to a time and attendance system. Of course, should contracts or awards change, the conditions can be easily updated manually or via the internet.

Unlike other payroll programs that average the hours over the day, the Wage Easy Payroll award interpretation system looks at each actual time period worked. This ensures the accurate calculation of every employment condition, including overtime, public holidays, weekend shifts, meal breaks, non-continuous work periods, early start and late finish loading, leave accrual, and shifts that extend over midnight into public holidays. Payments for all payroll components are then allocated back to each job and department, allowing exact breakdown of costs. Each employee has their own file and all the payroll, leave and personal details for the employee can be found in the one place. If given access to their own records, employees can update their own contact information and also use the reminder system to deliver individual messages.

Operator aids such as Wizards are provided to minimise the work and maximise the accuracy in administering employees. One wizard ensures that the minimum information is supplied when first creating an employee file. Other wizards ensure correct operation on termination of an employee and when an employee changes awards or contracts.

Human Resource Flexibility and Capacity

In addition to the optional predefined records for an employee, Wage Easy Payroll also has some innovative features that allow real flexibility in managing employees. Employee files can hold a digitised photograph of the employee, and scanned copies of documents such as qualification certificates, licences, letters and so on. For example, you can drill down through a company overtime report to identify which employees are doing most of the overtime. This is a very powerful management feature that allows rapid identification and analysis of the staff and job factors that contribute to business outcomes.
